I saw an interview with one of their environment artists saying their tech requires grass be placed manually.
To all the @Naughty_Dog devs who worked on Uncharted foliage: you're beyond insane incredible (Also I hope you can still enjoy nature now)

That they can't just paint terrain with grass detail sprites or meshes. Still coming to terms with that...
