The overall lesson is that I should build more custom tools instead of awkwardly gluing mismatching bits together with shell scripts.
Looks like shaving this yak means writing a Go program to get HTTP redirects; curl and Cloudflare HTTPS don't go together on Fedora 21.

@thatcks I find doing The Right Thing with TLS means that curl is going to have problems. It's a real annoyance.
