On the one hand, this seems like a terribly dangerous idea. On the other hand, it still sounds better than wrestling with IKE daemons.
I'm seriously considering writing a little (Go) daemon to periodically rekey my IPSEC tunnel. It has to be simpler than getting IKE working.
