It's like no one tests their TBT directions with anything but simple routes and people who never have to divert from them (for long).
-
On the one hand, Garmin GPS bike computers don't have robust turn-by-turn directions. On the other hand, everyone else is apparently worse.
-
Good: my dialup modem PPP link still works. Bad: the modern web is in no way happy with a 28.8kbps link. But it's still faster than nothing.
-
In closely related news, I am about to see if my dialup modem environment still works. Let's hope it does.
-
So
@Garmin has discovered a creative way to discourage bug reports: report a software bug, get an immediate 'we must swap your unit' demand. -
TIL that the boutique ISP I use has a single Radius server. Or 'had', since apparently its hardware died & took out lots of the ISP's stuff.

Well. That was an epic yak shave, which I'll have to write up somehow. For now let's just say there are hazards to a really old
$HOME. -
If the Rust devs ever wonder why people like Go more, just compare the 'build from source' experience. One is fast & simple; one is neither.

My experience of building Rust from released source is a dumpster fire. The latest failure is my attempt to build Cargo to go with Rust.

I was out biking earlier today in somewhat cooler conditions and even that was clearly into the 'no fun at all' heat territory.
-
I could in theory go for a
@TOBikeNetwork group ride this evening. In practice it is currently 33 C (37 C humidex). -
TIL that some people write blog entries and articles with the content text set to be centered by their HTML/stylesheet. My eyes hurt.
-
The good news: I don't need a new PC power supply. The bad news: I need a new DVD drive and a new power connector for it.
-
By the principle of 'pay for services you use to support them', I should probably start paying
@ridewithgps even if I can get away w/o it. -
It wouldn't be a proper scorching hot day (hopefully Toronto's hottest this year) if we didn't have a machine room AC failure to go with it.

So, Ubuntu 16.04 can't apply MySQL server updates if you have the server installed but have disabled it running. Good show, you lot.
