ICU is not pretty. This is not grey’s anatomy. They are not sitting serenely, propped on a cloud of white pillows. Even if you are beating Covid at this point, your healthcare team is in a full blown battle to try and prevent any other very common ICU complication from happening

This means bedsores, muscle atrophy, bacterial infections on top of the viral one, maintaining nutrition by tube feeding you. They are turning you in bed every 2 hours, 24 hours a day. Cleaning your bowel movements. Deep suctioning your lungs. Constantly monitoring blood samples

Survivors are talking. I hope they talk more. I hope Kenney grows a set and accepts the invitation to come walk these halls himself. Because somehow it needs to become real to people, that ICU is far worse then anything they’ve imagined a vaccine could do.
