    Man, fuck this. I did this job in-house but I got the usual “beware the scary unions” video in my orientation. Especially in a pandemic, anyone who is working in a grocery store, including gig workers like these, needs better protection, benefits, and bargaining power.

    I grew up rural. I’m used to gifts of produce: people leaving bundles of zucchini on the porch, someone’s garden fresh carrots, and picking apples off the spindly tree that stubbornly grew and bloomed and fruited every year in our backyard where it went to unkempt wild grasses.
