Asking technical detail is useless in interviews because EVERYBODY just looks it up. You can ask about techniques, methods and experiences but asking for API or language nuance is unrepresentative of the task candidates will end up doing so is useless.

They should really do tests about how you would try and solve a problem. As researching for an answer to a question is what you'll spend your job doing.

I have spent my entire career googling my way through it. I have got jobs with no knowledge that I have covered with google. If the internet doesn't exist I would be dead or eating a shoe i fished out of a river like a chaplin skit.

No one should ever been ashamed for looking up information. Looking up info, you may find info you already knew, or find new info and learn something. A person can't be expected to remember every single thing. That's an unreasonable expectation. Looking up info is good.
