(yes scores are silly but 7/10 is more silly)

I'm still hoping for relative scores. Five point system, where three is "as expected." Higher is better than expected with two steps, "better than expected" and "extremely good, exceeded expectations."

My hope is for the A-F rating we have in school to get adopted as a review score, if any. Like, If this game was a student what grade would it get. I find it a lot more relatable.

A-F is US though, Netherlands does 1-10, Germany does 6-1 I think?

Get more decimal points in there. 7.6345 or 7.3401 Then at least we can compare the 7's against each other.

This is why I like a 5 point rating system. I so often want to give a half a point but it feels like a compromise.

11 years I’ve been reviewing games as part of my day job. I still have regular crises of scoring confidence. Because sometimes I can 8/10 love a 6/10 game. Or vice versa. A single number is often too linear for something as multifaceted as a video game!

This is an important point, and it's kinda why I think scores are silly. There are plenty of really strange things I love that I know most people wouldn't. If I were a reviewer, should I score based on my feelings, or my expectation of the public's? And should that be disclosed?
