For me one of the most useful episodes so far - full of great insights and best practices. My favorite: try to model with sparse indexes and not just invert the primary table keys to save some money.

Ken has done some good things with CloudPegboard for folks who want to monitor info about various AWS services (you choose which ones). It's nice to see this becoming free for individuals. Best feature: Ken listens to feedback about how to make the service better.

As a follow up: AWS SDK v.2.610.0 added support for converting very large numbers coming from DynamoDB to BigInt values. This might lead to problems when using JSON.stringify() later on. A replacer function might be added as second argument to JSON.stringify() to handle bigInts.

Be aware: Javascript just recently added support for BigInt data type for very large numbers but JSON.stringify() does not support this type. We just hit an issue on AWS Lambda with Node 12 runtime when working with data coming from DynamoDB streams. A nice surprise:(

⁉️ JavaScript/TypeScript developers: What are you using to manage/import environment variables during local development? ♻️ RT for more reach would be very appreciated

1/ I’ve been to war, twice. Iraq in ‘09 and Afghanistan in 2011. I am just a fucking ER doc. But it was there, in the deserts far,far from home, that I made my bones as a newly board certified ER doc. It is around that time, I think that I lost my capacity to feel joy.

Does AWS Amplify Console supports multi account deployments with one central account hosting the code and the CICD pipeline and others used as test, staging and production environment? If this is not supported has anyone tried to ... 1/2
