After a year of grappling with antivaxxers online I realised that Australia is the perfect country to use to compare mortality statistics before and after vaccination as we had so few deaths from COVID. The results are clear and reassuring. Here are weekly deaths 2015-Nov2021

Once Twitter announces more details, it should be easy to filter out the paid accounts and put the verified accounts back in.
If anyone's interested, I could also try making a version that just removes the blue check icons, or one that gives everyone blue checks.
Show this thread
I'm as worried as everyone else what will happen when Twitter scraps account verification and anyone can buy a blue check.
So I made a chrome extension to remove all blue check accounts from my Twitter feed. It also removes ads and promoted tweets.

This is reported widely: bivalent shots not working as well as hoped. Immune imprinting
Some things underappreciated: catching BA.5 after 3 shots gives immunity. Monovalent BA.5 vax should work
Also, covid keeps mutating. BA.2.75.2 will reinfect those immune to BA.5, regardless

So if we match May 2021 vaccination rates for reproductive age women to Feb 2022 changes in births, what do we get?
There's no (or even a slight positive!) correlation between higher vaccination rates and birth changes.

NEW: the collapse of emergency healthcare in England may be costing 500 lives every week, a close match for non-Covid excess deaths
Let’s look at how we reach that conclusion, by taking a deep-dive into non-Covid excess mortality and its possible causes

The reason nobody buys the myocarditis line anymore is because we have actual data on myocarditis deaths over time. Here's what it looks like:

Bullshit! The data on lipid nanoparticles going to the ovaries was based on a study in rats, where they gave the rats a dose 20 times higher than people get
50% of it stayed in the arm where it was injected. Only 0.1% of it ended up in the rat's ovaries:

I want to know who I can listen to, to get good advice.
You can tell me that the vaccine is somewhat dangerous because it makes spike protein, and you might even be right. But what am I supposed to do, instead? Catch covid and take Pepcid?

In the end, I don't know what motivates Malone. I'm listening because I want to know if there's anything true here. I need to make these decisions for myself and my family. Do we get vaccinated? Do we get boosted? If we get covid, what do we treat it with?

I see a few possibilities:
1. He's right about all of this stuff and I'm an awful fact checker.
2. He's right about some things and has a poor filter for the rest. Hence I'm able to find all these flaws.
3. He's lying for attention, money, fame, or political motivations.

Maybe the Novavax vaccine will prove to be safer for everyone, since it just injects the spike protein, not some technology to create the spike protein.

We could control the virus until we know more, but no one in America seems interested in controlling the virus anymore.
There might be a better solution, like giving teenagers a smaller dose of the vaccine, or only 1 dose instead of 2. Maybe the JnJ vaccine is safer than Pfizer.

Every choice we make with the pandemic has risk. If we just let every kid get covid, 1 in 2,000 will get MIS-C or myocarditis.
If we give everyone the vaccine, some of the teens will get myocarditis.

84:00 Malone says there's no data on long term outcomes for vaccine induced myocarditis. That's right, there isn't. You'd expect it to be less bad, based on the data above, but we don't know.
There also isn't any long term data for covid / MIS-C myocarditis.

That paper also looks at myocarditis in kids with MIS-C. That damage appears to be worse than vaccine myocarditis but better than classic viral myocarditis.
So, hopefully those 6,000 kids who got MIS-C aren't going to die in 5 years either.

All of the vaccine myocarditis cases in that study had recovered normal heart function within 4 days. The classic viral myocarditis cases all still had damaged hearts for a month. So it's reasonable to think that the long term outcomes will be different for the 2 groups.

Malone says there's a 27% chance that these kids with myocarditis will die, a few years down the line.

Vaccine myocarditis is not as bad as classic viral myocarditis, here's one paper comparing them.
