Hi twitter. I've been collating a list of summer schools/workshops in comp neuro and related areas. It's publicly accessible and editable, so please use responsibly. But I'd love to add more and get to know what's out there!

I dipped my toe into a political debate and I noticed there was a like of condescension and just plain rudeness (one interlocutor even used the "f curse"). Where does that come from? It's obviously counter-productive, but does anybody have a recipe for healing the discourse?

Last night, I was traveling alone from Swiss to Italy, someone stole my robots in a train. There're 2 pieces in my backpack and has already gone from the shelf when I noticed. Hey thief, if you look at this tweet, please give 'em back. It's worthless for you but priceless for me.

I am against signing petitions to have papers you disagree with retracted or make the editorial board apologize or resign. It suggests you don't know what academic freedom is, why it is important, and why you should care about it. If you disagree with someone, write a rebuttal.

Yes. The protesters hearts are in the right place but their heads are not. The timing of this is counter productive and plays into the hands of those who criticise them. So why do it now?

Found a 15 year old report issued by the CSIRO about climate change and increased fire risk in South East Australia. It says "an increase in fire-weather risk is likely at most sites in 2020 and 2050" in the Executive Summary.

This is not your normal bushfire season in Australia. Smoke fills our country, communities are isolated and under threat, people have died or are missing, wildlife are dying by the thousands. This is what climate inaction looks like. It's apocalyptic.

Unconstrained lognormal weight distributions don't make a heap of biological sense. Bounds for pre/post make more sense. However there is still the problem of apparently random/non-activity-dependent synaptic variation/decay. Very useful and interesting analysis here, though. Ty
