Sadly edible bananas in the UK are at the outer limit of common sense just as a curiosity, but commercially well our of reach. There's a -lot- can be done to make out diets more sustainable while keeping more money in the local economy. Domestic bananas aren't on that list though

...many reasons to eat local. It's not as simple as whether it's better for your carbon footprint or not, you have advantages of being able to see where your money goes, knowing how your produce is grown/raised/handled, and getting you closet to the product and understanding it

...good to know when to admit defeat! Also I’d imagine growing huge amounts of sun hungry produce in UK would raise issues over the cost of heating greenhouses that made it a poor climate choice. But I’m no expert, so I’ll take my advice from
