Yeah this is absurd. They've gotta roll this back soon, the backlash has been incredible from patrons and creators both.

I'm in agreement. I'm already pre-cringing on the smiling, hands-clapping-together breathlessness of the message they're going to write, and how it begins with "We Heard You" and then smears like peanut butter for 3 paragraphs. Or they're going to push ahead.
-
When I got the creator email I was first like "Huh, that's kinda nice, better revenue share for me," and then I see the $0.35 flat on any pledge and went "Oh, never mind, this is completely evil." They're popular but not proprietary, if they don't back down someone will step up.
-
Right. I'm in better shape than most. This is helping me pay down debt, not representing the difference between having rent and food; I'm mostly infuriated because this whole thing has a veneer of
@jackconte being a nice guy.

This is outrageous. Patreon is batch charging the credit card so there is no reason to charge $0.35 on every pledge. My $1 pledges are getting a 35% surcharge. Greedy bastages.

Isn't it pure slime to act like the $0.35 transaction fee is the credit card fee they are passing through when actually they are aggregating charges, so the actual credit card fee is often much less?
-
god, I can't believe this is anything other then an oversight. anything else is just fuckawful

What the actual fsck? ...do they think anybody would actually believe that spin?

I for one will still be finding a way to give you that $1 per month without an absurd 37.9% fee. Will you, perhaps, accept one paypal payment each year for $12? Hopefully they'll change their mind, though, and it won't be necessary.

Internet Economics 101: 1. Provide a service for free or at very low cost. 2. Grow a sufficient and happy user base. 3. Raise rates(profit).

That's absolutely DISGUSTING!! 1) If patreon is imposing new fees, THEY need to break it to the supporters. NOT the creators. 2) patreon is essentially telling creators to handle the PR, and support nightmare that rightfully belongs to patreon, while raising fees..

They are trying to take advantage of the cover of what Congress is doing to sneak this in when they think that we can't possibly be any more outraged.
