Discomfort doesn’t always mean something is wrong. It could mean we’re being prodded out of the nest so we hear God’s voice. Followers of Jesus must be able to hear and follow God’s voice.

God is more interested in our character than in our comfort. In the process of learning to fly like an eagle, God will intentionally and purposefully remove our comforts so we learn to hear His voice and to depend on him.

Mother eagle knows when it’s time for her eaglets to fly, but the little ones don’t usually have confidence or desire to leave the nest. Mother will remove the comforts of her nest, so the eaglets learn to fly. It's time for the church to leave the nest and fly.

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.” Is 40:31

Something GOOD is going to happen to you! That’s a profound form of hope. Let’s change our thinking, and put on the glasses of hope to see our circumstances through God’s eyes. God is a God of hope.

“We were like grasshoppers in their eyes.” It is so important how we see ourselves. Much happens in our lives based on how we see our circumstances. Much depends on the glasses we wear. Many people are looking at our world through glasses of despair.

God gave Abraham a promise 400 years before Moses was born. He gave that same promise to his son, Isaac and grandson Jacob. For 400 years, the descendants of Abraham held onto the promise that one day God was going to give them their own land. We need to hang on to God’s promises

No message is more important to remember today than Jeremiah 29:11, “I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to give you a future and a hope.”

God wants us to pray, not because he is powerless but because of the way he chooses to exercise his will. We are not pawns on a giant chessboard. God wants us to pray and to ask him for favorable outcomes. God can do whatever he wants, but he doesn’t want to do it without us.

Biblical hope is a confident expectation in the goodness of God. Choose hope. Grow in hope. Fan the ember of hope in your life through prayer today.

Calamities will happen to each of us at inopportune times. How we respond is what determines how the road ahead will look for us. Circumstances will either define or refine us. We have to choose to pray and to maintain an attitude of hope anchored in God’s word.

Will we choose to engage our circumstances through prayer? And, will we choose to saturate our circumstances with hope…that God is listening and responding positively to our prayers?
