I have heard many tales of teams designing components in tools like Figma and Sketch and having them turned into React components and back. Is your team doing this? What tooling are you using to do it?

Is anyone using https://github.com/airbnb/react-sketchapp … (other than, presumably, AirBnb themselves)?

Replying to @seldo
AirBnB has so much cash, they run a hedge fund with their working capital. Spending millions of dollars per year (probably literally) on dozens of internal tools with incremental value feels fine to them. For everyone else, it’s completely bananas.

It’s been interesting to see so many of the founders coming out of the internal tools teams at these companies are working on bringing some of these ideas to every company. Obligatory “if you’re working on something like this, DM me” self-promotion.

Speaking of companies with cash to burn on internal tools: Facebook has built their own design tool that does sketch-like functionality while keeping it in react the whole time.

I heard this company called Pivotal even made their own project management tool.

It’s funny because I remember people saying “How much money does Pivotal make on that product?” They completely missed the point that we needed it to operate the way we did. Our operating process was our competitive advantage.
