If true -and I believe it is- it will take significant time to not just train the crews & units (as stated in the article) but also even more time to “set” logistics & support infrastructure. This is part of long-term plan to help transform Ukraine’s Army. cnn.com/2023/01/24/pol

Those criticizing The Hollywood Reporter for the phrase "identifies as Asian" in reference to Michelle Yeoh's #Oscars2023 nomination fail to realize there may have been nominated actresses in the past who had to hide their non-white ethnicity to succeed. THR phrased it correctly.

“It took 59 years for Michelle Yeoh to land her first lead role in a Hollywood film. And it’s taken 95 years for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to recognize a woman who identifies as Asian in its best actress category.” hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-n via @therebeccasun

GREAT NEWS! Germany will send Leopards to Ukraine and allow others to do so; the U.S. will follow with M1 Abrams tanks as well. Details still coming, but this will be a game-changer on the battlefield. Thank you, Germany!

The reason we hear more about corruption in Ukraine is that there is a culture of calling it out, which I'd say is better than letting it fester quietly.
Quote Tweet
Ukraine is dealing with corruption much faster than it has in the past. The fact that Ukraine is moving quickly to address this speaks to how far Ukraine has come. This is a big deal, but it is not remotely as dire as some would think. nytimes.com/live/2023/01/2

I find it ironic that the same people who call me a cheerleader for NATO and US imperialism are the very people who overlook the genocidal behavior of Russia and China. I’m just saying…🤷🏿‍♀️

Germany's new defence minister Pistorius in his first TV inerview tonight said: "I'm not an expert on military strategy, I'm the defence minister". The entire tragedy of German defence policy in a single sentence on his first day in office. Not bad

For the love of God, stop blaming NATO for the RUSSIAN war against Ukraine. RUSSIA has been invading Ukraine since 2014, not NATO. RUSSIA has been shelling infrastructure and residential buildings, not NATO. RUSSIA has been murdering, torturing, raping Ukrainians, not NATO.

Good morning to readers, hello from Ukraine. Kyiv remains in Ukrainian hands, but was one of the cities targeting in a missile barrage yesterday. But the most horrific of the strikes happened at an apartment bldg in Dnipro, where today emergency crews are still working.

I’m of the mind that people who are against providing weapons to Ukraine essentially are fine with Russia committing genocide. Peace will come when Russia leaves Ukraine. Period. Neither Ukraine nor the West (or NATO) is to blame for Moscow’s invasion.

I fucking swear to God, I’m gonna make sure not a single Mr. Don’t Give Ukraine Weapons Blue Tick Smart Ass will be forgotten when this is all over.

Activists in Kansas City, Mo., said that Black women are going missing. heard the community's outcries & initiated coverage of their concerns. The police put out statements refuting the activists' claims. Weeks later, a hostage escaped.

Blaming Ukraine for "prolonging the war" is incredibly stupid because the only country responsible for the war in Ukraine is Russia. Russia brought the world into this war, and Russia is the only reason it still goes on. This would be over tomorrow if Russia pulled out.

Two things can be true: Neither Moscow, Beijing nor Brussels care about Africa and Africans know this. It is also true that the West, it’s former colonizers, aren’t much better in their engagement. What is true is the U.S. must do better in Africa. Much better.

The U.S. has a lot of catching up to do with Moscow if it wants to fend this Kremlin charm offensive off across the continent of Africa. I also respect that African nations have agency to align with whoever they choose. Lots to unpack.
