I’m very honored to have made the 2022 U.S. National Security & Foreign Affairs Leadership List. As a Black man who works on Eastern European affairs, I’m grateful that my work is recognized. Thank you to
Wow! Incredible looking art exhibit in Brooklyn this Saturday 4pm - 8pm featuring the works of artists from Bakhmut, Ukraine, area of the heaviest fighting. Donations go directly to the artists. I'll be there!
If true -and I believe it is- it will take significant time to not just train the crews & units (as stated in the article) but also even more time to “set” logistics & support infrastructure. This is part of long-term plan to help transform Ukraine’s Army. https://cnn.com/2023/01/24/politics/us-abram-tanks-ukraine/index.html…
Those criticizing The Hollywood Reporter for the phrase "identifies as Asian" in reference to Michelle Yeoh's #Oscars2023 nomination fail to realize there may have been nominated actresses in the past who had to hide their non-white ethnicity to succeed. THR phrased it correctly.
“It took 59 years for Michelle Yeoh to land her first lead role in a Hollywood film. And it’s taken 95 years for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to recognize a woman who identifies as Asian in its best actress category.” https://hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/michelle-yeoh-first-asian-actress-oscar-nominee-2023-1235308034/… via @therebeccasun
Biden is weighing sending a "significant number" of M1 Abrams tanks -- possibly 30-50 -- to Ukraine. Announcement could come this week. w/

Ukraine expects to get 100 Leopard 2 tanks from 12 countries, once Germany approves - ABC News.
I can already taste the vatnik tears. They are extra salty.
GREAT NEWS!
Germany will send Leopards to Ukraine and allow others to do so; the U.S. will follow with M1 Abrams tanks as well. Details still coming, but this will be a game-changer on the battlefield.
Thank you, Germany!
The reason we hear more about corruption in Ukraine is that there is a culture of calling it out, which I'd say is better than letting it fester quietly.
Ukraine is dealing with corruption much faster than it has in the past. The fact that Ukraine is moving quickly to address this speaks to how far Ukraine has come. This is a big deal, but it is not remotely as dire as some would think. https://nytimes.com/live/2023/01/24/world/russia-ukraine-news?campaign_id=190&emc=edit_ufn_20230124&instance_id=83522&nl=from-the-times®i_id=59150017&segment_id=123359&te=1&user_id=4517349a3d70184c89a522ca2739bc1e#the-firings-come-amid-a-ballooning-corruption-scandal-involving-military-procurement…

Pollsters: please ask no more questions about the "situation in Ukraine" or the "crisis in Ukraine." Please ask about "the Russian invasion of Ukraine" or "Russia's war on Ukraine." That is an actual event on which people have views.
Soon it will be a full year of full-scale war in Ukraine.
I always wanted to ask people from abroad:
What were your thoughts then? What chances did you give Ukraine? How closely were you following the situation?
Thank you for your replies!

It's what the russians will face during an invasion from Belarus to next 45-60 days. Is a very hard task among mines, artillery fire and mud, with slow advance. But I still believe they will go ahead w that idea. They will try to split the fronts.
I find it ironic that the same people who call me a cheerleader for NATO and US imperialism are the very people who overlook the genocidal behavior of Russia and China.
I’m just saying…🤷🏿♀️
Germany's new defence minister Pistorius in his first TV inerview tonight said: "I'm not an expert on military strategy, I'm the defence minister". The entire tragedy of German defence policy in a single sentence on his first day in office. Not bad
⚡️Von der Leyen: West should supply all weapons that Ukraine can handle.
“Ukraine needs all the military equipment that it can handle, and this also includes the advanced systems,” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen told CNN.
Never seen so many grown men attack Greta Thunberg for trying to save the planet, while simultaneously praising Kyle Rittenhouse — a guy who shot and killed two people.
For the love of God, stop blaming NATO for the RUSSIAN war against Ukraine.
RUSSIA has been invading Ukraine since 2014, not NATO.
RUSSIA has been shelling infrastructure and residential buildings, not NATO.
RUSSIA has been murdering, torturing, raping Ukrainians, not NATO.
is moving forward with plans to build the U.S. embassy in Jerusalem on land stolen from Palestinians. By doing so, the U.S. is complicit in the illegal confiscation of Palestinian property.

I wonder what most Westerners understand of Russia’s war. As Yale Historian Timothy Snyder noted, it’s rare that a country pre-announce that its intention is to commit genocide—but Russia did just that. And it’s carrying this out now.
Good morning to readers, hello from Ukraine.
Kyiv remains in Ukrainian hands, but was one of the cities targeting in a missile barrage yesterday.
But the most horrific of the strikes happened at an apartment bldg in Dnipro, where today emergency crews are still working.
Twitter can be a shitshow, but I'm genuinely grateful for every single one of you who listens to Ukranians, lifts up our voices, and after almost a year of full-scale invasion still cares.
I’m of the mind that people who are against providing weapons to Ukraine essentially are fine with Russia committing genocide.
Peace will come when Russia leaves Ukraine. Period. Neither Ukraine nor the West (or NATO) is to blame for Moscow’s invasion.
heard the community's outcries & initiated coverage of their concerns.
The police put out statements refuting the activists' claims.
Weeks later, a hostage escaped.
Blaming Ukraine for "prolonging the war" is incredibly stupid because the only country responsible for the war in Ukraine is Russia. Russia brought the world into this war, and Russia is the only reason it still goes on. This would be over tomorrow if Russia pulled out.
Two things can be true:
Neither Moscow, Beijing nor Brussels care about Africa and Africans know this. It is also true that the West, it’s former colonizers, aren’t much better in their engagement. What is true is the U.S. must do better in Africa.
Much better.
The U.S. has a lot of catching up to do with Moscow if it wants to fend this Kremlin charm offensive off across the continent of Africa. I also respect that African nations have agency to align with whoever they choose. Lots to unpack.
