One more spicy take on grpc and Ruby and I'll return to puns. I don't think Google actually uses the grpc Ruby library, so they have no idea what a pain it actually is in production

thanks for the suggestion, Aaron. Any reason you recommend grpc_kit over the official gem? What are the differences?
-
grpc_kit should be faster, but it’s also more architecturally sound IMO

I'm a big fan of GRPC, less so of protob but GRPC with different serialization (JSON or Avro, in my cases) is great, I feel. What's your gripe with it? I'd love if you could make time for a proper critique. (other contenders for intra-language RPC you think deserve attention?)

https://twitter.com/tenderlove/status/1222969188894965760 … The “style” of gRPC is fine, I think. It’s Google’s Ruby implementation that is particularly bad.https://twitter.com/tenderlove/status/1222970556149948416 …

google-protobuf has the same problem. I think grpc_kit still depends on that gem.
-
ya it does. I still think grpc_kit is moving in the right direction. Implementing just a protobuf encoder/decoder seems like an easier task
