Our military cannot protect us with sticks and stones. Technological abstinence is not realistic or ethical. The vast majority of Americans (and tech workers!) are supportive of collaboration between the military and innovative companies, the opposition is a vocal minority.https://twitter.com/mbrendan1/status/1100071742297403394 …

This isn’t a stance calling for ethical use of military tech (complying with the law of war/intl humanitarian law, etc.) — it’s an objection to any use of technology in the military https://twitter.com/MsWorkers4/status/1099066343523930112 …

The reason there is an opposition that is a vocal minority is our military budget and how it is used is a well obscured system. If the average person knew what we really spend on over-weaponizing the military versus things like healthcare or infrastructure, it would be a majority

You seem to be arguing a different point. If the average person understood the finer details of military spending, they would still support collaboration with tech companies. If anything, support would be even greater.

And your answer proves my point. The average person can't understand the finer or even larger points of military spending. Now some of that is for obvious security reasons. That said better insight would solve the "Real Genius" dilemma of how tech workers efforts are used.

It does not prove your point. Not even close. Your hypothesis that a majority would oppose collaboration between big tech and the military if they understood military spending better is incorrect.

Not my hypothesis if you read my second response. I agree there should be collaboration. Why there is resistance is the need for both the public and the companies to understand how those relationships would work. Some would not want their efforts in offensive development.

Yep, and that group of people is (and will remain) a vocal minority.
