The faders and buttons used during a 'self opt' can usually be heard clearly! Quite a complicated process to opt and present!

Wow, I had no idea this was a thing as far back as 1983 - a time when news crews were still made up of 3 people, the poor news reader was on her own!

That looks like a continuity booth with a camera put in it! Didn’t realise they did in-vision from there rather than a “proper” studio.

Continuity/news/presentation. On BBC Breakfast Time one morning, the network presenters interviewed someone in Norwich - and they couldn't make the switch fast enough before the local opt - so we got South East instead!

Looking at the monitor showing output I see they went Fish/globe/Lines. Presumably regions had their own globe and mirrors back then?
