I’m 25 pages in and I could replace the Austrian empire with US/EU, and you’d think you’re reading a book written today Human life’s and societies are cyclical and repeatingpic.twitter.com/uFg1qINpHg

Do you recognize how logically incoherent this is?
Do you consider history to contain patterns of human behavior? If NO & then you are saying human beings are incapable of randomness, and must make everything into a pattern (which would imply that behavior follows patterns)...see the inconsistency?
I've never thought about this from the human behavior perspective. Ill get back to you when I have a well thought through reply.
Better cliche: history rhymes, but doesn't repeat. Geography of US is not Europe. Different constraints. US is #1 military power ever. Austria-Hungary was weak and so was Ottoman Empire. Very different circumstances, situations, and constraints.
Understand the rhyming but this is also example of language becoming overwrought and highly semantic Even behavioral patterns are highly universal and no shit they repeat throughout human lives going back to eternity
FWIW, I do agree that we seem to be in a similar spot to pre-WW I world.
