They did it in maybe the most tone deaf, gross way possible, and in so doing used trans people basically as props.
Like a lot of Trevor Noah's humor, he used a serious story(transphobia) as a prop for a joke, not to really say anything.

He's likely only better than them previously because writers helped drill it home. I'm not convinced he cares about anything.
