The more tweets I read about these features that I give completely for granted, the more I realise the other IM apps are not even comparable with Telegram. You guys are just too much above their level.
You can highlight individual parts of a message on both Android and iOS. It might just save your life next time you’re in a high-stakes game of riddles and need to ask Google (or your friend with the pointy hat

I am dumb. Still not clear to me what you are showing in the video, and how to do this on Android. You are highlighting individual parts of a message (sent by you or received?). Using the "Edit" action? (duh) or some other trick?

You're not dumb, I'm just a little cryptic sometimes. This video is about selecting parts of text. On Android, press and hold a message, then press and hold it again to start selecting.

In the message field, select the words you want to be italic and you'll see a little menu pop up. Tap the three dots and you'll see the formatting options. You can also add two underscores before and after __like this__.
