I'm really not speaking for Facebook here, but on my own behalf, to better my own sense of ethics and responsibility in how I influence and balance these equities in the job I have now and others I'll have in the future.

I think Brad's point is that we haven't really studied whether users understand extensions act with their full authority and override website security; and whether they understand what that actually means when they make a decision to install.

In theory an extension is the user's agent. In practice some have their own agendas that don't serve the user.
