I've been trying to find exactly which logical fallacy covers "X are very smart, and I can easily imagine Y therefore X must be able to do Y and just don't want to". Like the FBI's 'golden key' junk. Is it a projected version of the Dunning-Kruger effect?

The FBI routinely puts the burden on "Silicon Valley" to "Come up with a solution" without proposing any policy or procedure which would mitigate the social concerns. That suggests they believe we can nerd harder and figure out a technology which does solve both.

That or, as I believe is the actual case, they DON'T believe the social concerns can/should be solved at all, but want to deflect responsibility away from their culpability in that. ;)
