It's almost 2018 and http://ftp.debian.org -- the place to download debian installation images! -- still doesn't support HTTPS. :( Oh sure, just verify the PGP signatures... right...

Huh. I always go for the netboot installer, which seems to land me on http://ftp.debian.org . I can't find netboot.tar.gz on the cdimage domain. Why don't they have certs for *all* the domains?

maybe because http://ftp.debian.org serves debian packages and there might be people mirroring from it? so usually access to that server would be checked by apt's signature verification
