I accidentally unplugged the drive that contains a system's swap partition and the kernel keeps incrementing the amount of material that's in swap anyway and I'm deeply concerned about what's going to happen

Once I saw this happening I killed almost everything on the system, so so far nothing I'm actually running interactively appears to depend on anything that's been swapped out

I guess you could try grepping for "Swap" in /proc/*/smaps to see exactly where all the timebombs on your system are ^^
