Filesystems Q: anyone has any experience dealing with situations where a single directory might end up having 2 or more entries (files) with the same name? This is not an offensive Q, I'm looking for best way to handle such a situation... On different OS/FS. Thx!
it's basically the same situation as when a user tries to copy a folder to a destination that already has a folder with the same name, right? graphical file managers will then usually pop a dialog asking which version you want to have for any duplicate files

it's different in that even metadata accesses make the conflict evident (think about ls -l), i.e. it's much more frequent and intermediate
