The moral isn't "Don't use systemd", the moral is "Write stuff in better languages than C". rsyslog doesn't exactly have an enviable security record either.

but there's still a lot of value in that you can limit where memory unsafety could be i was working on this kernel and they made a conscious effort to verify the pointer originates from userspace memory. but they don't realize the implicit pointer dereference a few lines up...

at least with Rust, the implicit dereference wouldn't be possible and then they'd know they need to validate that pointer too
