“Because of the horrific US history of race, it’s not enough to have MLK Day and Black History Month, we should also consecrate the relatively obscure Juneteenth as a top line holiday” is a colorable position, but don’t pretend it was widely accepted in May 2020.

Indeed, if Trump had accidentally scheduled his rally for June 18 or June 20 to begin with, Juneteenth would still be widely ignored.

Very bizzare for them to criticize someone for not knowing a holiday that isn't even celebrated by all 50 states and originated in TX.

The US celebrates Juneteenth? Since when? I never heard of it until last week. My friends heard of the term but had no idea what it was. Not saying it shouldn't be a holiday but it is not a true holiday and not celebrated by the masses.

Emancipation Proclamation was Jan 1. Maryland freed the slaves on Nov 1. The 13th was ratified on Dec 6, but Juneteenth is the coolest name. I think we need another Fed Holiday where government employees, banks and schools have off while the rest of us still need to work.

I didn’t hear the word Juneteenth until about 6 months ago and I still don’t know what it’s about.
