Walker is better known for allying himself with Vanderbilt and conquering and holding Nicaragua for a year before his army ran afoul of Vanderbilt and cholera. A hung jury voted 10-2 to acquit Walker, who the Hondurans executed in 1860 upon his fourth attempt to invade Nicaragua.
