Russia has, over the years, painted itself into a corner. Peter the Great wanted closer relations with Europe. Napoleon, Hitler & the Cold War put the kibosh that idea. So now they are alone in Asia, stuck with Czar Putin & no real allies. Suspicious of China & Europe alike. Sad
