Very much worth reading. In dealing w/ this pandemic, we need to be driven by science, facts & common sense. Far too many—on both sides of the aisle—view this crisis through a political lens. For many who hate Trump, the virus is all his fault & we must shut EVERYTHING down. 1/xhttps://twitter.com/WSJopinion/status/1254017700373901319 …

2/x And too many who love Trump are too quick to dismiss the pandemic as purely media-driven (“hydroxychloroquine will cure it’s all!”) & say everyone must go back to work NOW. If we are being fair & reasonable, NEITHER view makes much sense. Trump didn’t create this virus....

3/x ...and the Admin is working hard (albeit imperfectly) to combat it. We should continue to work to slow the spread of the virus, w/o giving in to hysteria. And we must get as many people back to work as soon as humanly possible—varying geographically based on medical facts.

4/x Our goal should be protecting as many lives as possible, both from COVID-19 AND from crushing poverty & unemployment. We should value lives on both sides on the ledger, and not let angry partisan politics drive our responses to this crisis.

Thank you, Ted! So glad to see this thread from you. I'm sick of the partisanship on both sides. We need honesty, not spin.

So where do you stand on injecting bleach? Are you in the “of course he was being sarcastic” court? Which means you need to explain why that was appropriate. Or are you in the “that was irresponsible of him” court?

I believe we could have focused on at risk groups and testing without the lockdowns. The anti-body tests show millions got the virus even with lockdown policies so they aren't effective, but their damage is massive! Voluntary actions that respect our constitutional rights. Amen

Nobody blames Trump FOR the virus. Trump deserves blame for his inaction and lack of a national and coordinated response coupled with mixed messaging. That is a failure of leadership. If you are trying to rally folks, you are a little late for that.

In order to achieve safe reopening, we need a national test and trace strategy led by the federal government. We need tests and contact tracers and we need them yesterday.

That is a impossible task. More and more data shows most are asymptotic carriers or very mild symptoms which surprisingly a fever is not a common sign. Also trying to trace in high density areas like NY will be impossible (subways, taxis, buses). Mass testing is a pipe dream.
