Education is an investment in the future of a country. It's incredibly selfish for anyone to say that a disadvantaged student shouldn't be given the same opportunities as someone from a wealthy background just because of their financial circumstances.

And isn't that what conservatism is supposed to be about? Ensuring that everyone is given an equal opportunity to make of life what they want? Isn't equal opportunity the very thing that creates the social mobility you claim to love?
