I would say to get on the internet and look the writer up, read about things they have written over time as well as recent history. Their affiliations will still be found out thru their biased writings.

Yes, I do that. Takes so much time that can't always or don't always bother, but the writing and choice of wording often gives them away. Most news has some slant left or right. Best to try to dip toe into both sides of the river to try to see entire flow of news .
