You quote a mighty and historic speech by the great abolitionist Frederick Douglass, but, without context, many modern readers will misunderstand. Two critical points:https://twitter.com/Kaepernick7/status/1146826827593342977 …

Let me encourage everyone, READ THE ENTIRE SPEECH; it is powerful, inspirational, and historically important in bending the arc of history towards justice: https://rbscp.lib.rochester.edu/2945

What strikes me about his speech is the fact that he was acknowledging the greatness of the country and of its founders. He was admonishing them that slavery was beneath their dignity. He declared that if the chains were removed, he'd join the nation's jubilee. And so he did. -VJpic.twitter.com/vVmgxlViQA
