Ohio is terrible ground for Dems in general. Even if the map wasn’t gerrymandered it’d be 5safeD 7safeR 2leanD flip seats 2leanR flip seats. Dem victories in 2018 would’ve made the delegation 7D-9R.

Part of the issue here is logistical - liberal clustering. Since urban Ohionas (students, black people, etc.) live close together and swing way Democratic, it's a lot easier to draw compact districts that encompass almost entirely Democrats. Of course, these aren't even compact.

That's packing. You see that strategy used in the 4 districts republicans graciously allowed them to have. They also also used cracking in Cincinatti, splitting the city literally in 2 so dems cant win.
