    This wasn't a "shock victory". Many, including and myself, had forecasted a strong Sadrist victory (in alignment with the ICP and civil-society). It did however challenge the media narrative & sensationalism around Abadi's re-election prospects.

    Sadrists and ICP were hardly natural allies – for on the societal and cultural roots of the alliance
