This is such absurd theater, designed only to stoke the fears of white people who live nowhere near the border.

Howard University announced the removal of the "Affiliate Trustee," role which gave trustee status to students, faculty, and alumni. We fully denounce this action. Sign our petition and letter to demand the Board of Trustees reinstate full representation.

For students, I'm excited to be teaching a new course this fall: "Campaign Data Analytics". The class will cover the various ways campaigns use data to drive strategy. You'll hear from some of the top practitioners in the field. This is a class about strategy, not stats.

Just a reminder that the "Blue Lives Matter" slogan is predicated on the notion of taking the lives of people of color. Stand in the way of white secessionists, and that blue life means nothing.

Just a few months ago the prevailing wisdom was that the world had changed and we would get used to the notion of vaccine passports to go places. That somehow has pivoted to "let other people get vaccinated and hope for the best".

This news is striking, mostly in that it took until 2021 for the United States to have a Muslim federal judge.

Spent the last few weeks in Peoria, one of the most conservative parts of Arizona and an epicenter for the fight over the future of the GOP. My story and a brief thread: (1/7)

The GOP says they want to reopen schools and businesses, but then they go out of their way to ensure that the most vulnerable among us won't feel safe.

Anti-semitic trolls shouldn't be in congress. Comparing a store that indicates which employees have chosen to get vaccinated by noting that on their name tags to Nazi Germany forcing Jews to wear a yellow star shows a severe lack of understanding of either situation.

Politics has an incentive structure problem. Political advisors recommend policy priorities based on what they perceive as most likely to win elections. There is little incentive for finding ways to win support for moral policies without majority support.

So how long until Tulsi Gabbard runs for office as a Republican in some state other than Hawaii?

Republicans love to claim that liberals want to ban free speech on college campuses. Yet, here they are, banning actual words... and SOUNDS in schools in Alabama.

Did he even bother to check just how many votes he would lose before pledging loyalty to the Mar-a-Lago leader of the GOP? Or is it possible that McCarthy, who already seems to be measuring the drapes in the speaker’s office, has no idea what he is doing?

If Val Demings is running against Marco Rubio for US Senate, that’s all we need to know. Left of Center is proud to endorse @val_demings. See you in Florida.

I’ll admit to bandwagoning with Liverpool after watching Ted Lasso last year and having premiere league envy. So glad I did, to appreciate the emotion of this moment, as someone who also lost his dad. What a moment.
