Protestors now chanting on 16th Street, looking toward the White House a few blocks away.

As
@realDonaldTrump pledges to resort to military force if governors don’t utilize the National Guard to quell#GeorgeFloyd protests, police are gradually pushing back demonstrators away from the White House. Between flash bangs and tear gas, protestors are taking a knee.pic.twitter.com/ITmKVgil2AShow this thread -
The scene here two blocks from the White House and less than three minutes before DC’s 7pm curfew begins.

Washington, D.C.’s curfew has officially started, but protestors are still just blocks from the White House. Besides chants right now, it is calm. Lots of police blocking 16th Street near St. John’s Episcopal Church.

Here’s the scene just one block from the church
@realDonaldTrump is currently at. Based off my previous tweets, police used flash bangs and potentially tear gas to clear the section of 16th Street the president is currently at.#GeorgeFloydpic.twitter.com/FZgLnspZQ4Show this thread -
At least on Vermont Ave and 16th Street, the large crowds have gone away and a few demonstrators remain face to face with officers lined to protect the expanded perimeter around the White House, Lafayette Square Park and H Street.

Currently at intersection of 16th Street & I Street, just one block from St. John’s Church where
@realDonaldTrump briefly stopped by, some of the lingering protesters are being taken into custody. Officers pushing back a group on the opposite end of I St. from me.#GeorgeFloydpic.twitter.com/stjfIexsX0Show this thread -
90 minutes into the curfew here in DC, a few dozen protesters remain corralled by police at the corner of 16th and I Street as they are taken into custody. It’s calm here, with most protestors gone from the two block radius around the White House.

It appears some type of military helicopter just flew over us at low altitude here in downtown DC.

My team and I are safe and leaving the area around the White House because things have quieted down. A few remaining protesters are calmly being taken into custody. Most people here are police or National Guard. Grateful for
@PhotogshawnK and@chrisphotog22’s stellar teamwork.pic.twitter.com/4aVrELf6j3
