And it's an immense disservice to our readers: Fewer people means there will lots of stories that just won't get told, issues that will just never be covered. The instability, the default that someday we will all be laid off, has immense ripple effects on everything.

I feel like I tweet this every time there's a media layoffs bloodbath (too many times), but there's gotta be a better way to make this industry sustainable for more people. The default cannot be: "Welcome to media! You will probably be laid off some day!"
