So when a state's attorney general attacks someone without evidence it's clear something is very wrong.

BREAKING: An attorney for Indiana Dr. Caitlin Bernard has sent a cease and desist letter to Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita, after he suggested without evidence that she’d failed to report an abortion provided to a 10yo rape victim. Documents confirm she did report it.

This photo was snapped at The White House, yesterday. Whether you voted for them or against them, the achievement and historical significance of the first Black President and first Black woman VP, should not be taken lightly.

Chris Rock didn’t press charges. Will Smith apologized. I hope it’s a learning moment. Can we please now focus on genocide in Ukraine, the qualified nominee about to be 1st Black woman on SCOTUS and the Justice married to a loon who needs to recuse himself from election cases?

Thanks John - adds a wrinkle to current SALT talks

Richard's piece got me thinking about the recent analysis @taxfox did on pass-through entity workarounds. Of note, the SALT cap workarounds are NOT limited to coastal blue states. Oddly bipartisan. taxpolicycenter.org/taxvox/state-p

Oh, to have a judge and a jury of your peers be the equivalent of your dad, your aunts and your uncles, with only one person among them who won’t likely see their own loved ones in you. There is literally nothing you can’t do. We live in two very different countries, folks.

So sitting in GW medical office as my eyes dilate. They just switched support software and the new name is Epic. Think I hate all the puns on the screens. Need to report an Epic issue? This could be an Epic mistake

Yeah - I hate this

Bad policy, but brilliant budget chess. SALT cap would be eliminated for 2022-3, reinstated for 2026-7. This raises revenue since SALT deduction costs more in 2026 than 2022. Then SALT advocates can repeat the game every two years, pretending to raise revenue while cutting taxes. twitter.com/heatherscope/s…

My blog post on how synthetic data and a validation server can safely expand access to tax data for research (and a response to some concerns raised by Senators Crapo and Grassley).

The IRS is entrusted with highly sensitive data that it has to keep private. However, synthetic data can actually create new, more in-depth tax research opportunities without sacrificing data privacy. @lenburman explains: tpc.io/3mPD86D

So HBO is showing the Day After Tomorrow - was this always coincidental programming or response to Ida's effect on NY yesterday?
The number of U.S. covid deaths is now back up over 1,000 per day. Deaths lag cases by several weeks, and cases have risen sharply over the past few weeks, suggesting we may soon see 2,000 deaths per day. Is it a greater tragedy because most of these deaths are preventable...?

So-called “Pro-Lifers” who argue against women making their own medical choices and exercising authority over their bodies…are now suddenly Pro-Death and for respecting anti-vaxxers’ medical choices and freedom over their bodies, which put others -kids & adults- at risk. SMDH.

There is a history of recording Lynchings as suicides to avoid investigation and outside attention. Note that this type of policy requires the government to cooperate when determining cause of death. This is not about a few rogue folks— this is institutional violence and murder.

Greg Acs & @KevinWerner127 find that expanding the CTC would reduce child poverty from 14.2% to 8.4% (using 2018 as a benchmark for a typical year), meaning 4.3 million fewer kids would be in poverty in a typical year—a 40%+ decrease.
