That's the point of Rob's story, you can't hide these details and attempting it makes the jobs of important IT personnel less efficient.
More information expedites patching, Minimum information slows it down - and attackers still get the exploit anyway.
for very skilled IT teams, most of them wouldn't understand the info you ask for. Again, you optimize for the elite.
Only elite users benefit from compilers, should we stop making them? No, because it doesn't harm everyone else and they benefit indirectly.
Exactly. When it doesn't harm anyone, full release is the rule. But again, that's exactly why MS doesn't do full release. It has harmed.
It's not the "full release" that harmed, it's the vulnerability. Read Rob's story again, there was no "full release" and harm occurred.
That was the whole point he was making, I don't think I can repeat this anymore haha.
