VPNs are not “possibly safer” vs “nothing.” They are ”pay money to someone you let watch everything you do“ vs ”not feeling like a hacker.“

I think PWMs serve a purpose and are an unavoidable components of the current security paradigm. VPNs generally serve no purpose.

VPNs selling point is ease of use for privacy. Most buyers can't confirm trust. They have confirmation bias because their ip is "different"
