@taviso @halvarflake Use - yes. Rely on - nope. F-PROT, McAfee, Kaspersky, etc. Scan strings are used only to trigger more powerful algos.

@taviso@halvarflake Most people call "signature" the scan strings - i.e., sequences of bytes from the malware. Not relied upon these days. -
@VessOnSecurity@taviso@halvarflake If by "signature" you mean "information about how to detect the malware" - sure, but that's too broad.
