Would like to know more here about whether this was responsibly disclosed and time given to the Zoom team to fix it. https://twitter.com/zackwhittaker/status/1245350371876315137 …

You are making the assumption that users are reading infosec or even tech news. I truly think that’s about 5% of the end users for Zoom.

Isn't that like saying we shouldn't talk about COVID-19, because not all humans watch the news? We don't have a perfect system for disseminating information, we have to make do with what we have.

The people who are installing it now are doing it because they need it. It's not optional for students or employee's who need it to do their work. This disclosure won't protect them, but it will make it more likely to be used against them.

Sounds like sensationalism to me. “Two flaws when the attacker already has local access”? Who cares. I just know that multiple parents are now complaining about “things they read about Zoom”, which now means all of the good-intentioned Zoom playdates and classes are in jeopardy.

All they need to know to make that call is "there are two local vulnerabilities in Zoom providing privilege escalation" They don't need to know the technical details to decide to wait for the most part
