I know this fries the brains of my security colleagues involved in election security, but how can you see how much voter disenfranchisement exists and *not* think that the greatest democratic benefit would be from making voting easier? I believe secure mobile voting is possible.

Wow, a controversial security topic we agree on
I fight enough battles in security that I don't need another one, but I also believe this.4 replies 1 retweet 23 likes -

Happy to find one where we do agree! Now, you too can sit back and watch people explain mobile security risks to me in my mentions as if I have no experience in mobile security nor making things possible in the face of those risks.

No offense, but election security has a pretty specific threat model. You could be the top expert on mobile security on the planet and still be missing something due to applying the wrong threat model.

Sure, but that works both ways, if the criticism from election security experts involve hand-wavy compromise at some endpoint (for example), then that's something we're more equipped to reason about.

I get the feeling you're imagining what experts say because you haven't actually *read* what experts say...
If I can convince you of anything, at least let me try to convince you the topic is complex and nuanced and can't trivially be solved by whipping up an app.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

I've followed the debate and not convinced the risks outweigh the benefits to combating disenfranchisement. Is it really so hard to believe someone might be informed *and* come to a different conclusion?

I have a hard time believing you are informed if you think the experts are hand-wavy, and a problem only the US has can only be solved by a new technology nobody worldwide implemented correctly yet.

It's not your conclusion but your explanation of how you reached it that makes me doubtful.

My explanation of "following the debate"? Then how did you reach your conclusion, blind faith?
