I think you're saying everyone in a position of power must toe the line. Not sure I agree with that, their design makes sense, and they seem to understand the problem better than their critics

蜘蛛の糸 is the only thing close to a line that I think anyone should "toe"? That was required reading for me as an undergraduate, so my biases may show. There are alternatives to the design you & I & others provided suggestions. Plaintext pass phrases? Remain: consternations.

I experience that those in power? Are into maintaining the status quo. You have > 100K followers, & are gainfully employed. I have < 1500 & have debts, & am annoyed. You want to collaborate with plaintext pass phrase folks in 2019? That to me, seems unwise, if not "unclean".

Anyway, I respect your research, which is why I follow you. I tend to learn a lot and hope others do too. Being an apologist for plaintext pass phrases when Unix crypt was from the 1970s? OTPs are even older, please. Regenerating as you stated: would be wiser, I do not tease.
