It's a wonder anyone in Europe ever uses encryption, according to PowerDNS it's a perfect data utopia. (I'm European. We need encryption.)
No one is arguing against encryption, but there are valid concerns over the current approach to implementation of DoH.
Are there? We keeping asking what these “valid concerns” are and getting nonresponsive answers.
Well concentration for one, which does make the data easier to target, specfically impacts from a legal perspective for users outside the US. Also malware suppression by some ISPs via DNS is effective in suppressing garden variety malware.
I hear this argument over and over again and don’t feel like anyone is hearing the counterargument which is that it is already trivial for the USG to get data from AT&T, which is already collecting it today.
The only response I've heard is that "That's US-centric, we don't need to be protected from ISPs in Europe.", which is why I joked that it's a wonder anyone uses encryption in EU. It's not a good argument.
I did mention earlier that no one is arguing against encryption. Take a step back and consider the wider picture.
Oh people are absolutely arguing against encryption. As the traffic is encrypted, they can't monitor their network anymore, therefore DoH is - according to them - bad.
