So in your model as long as any of the parties to a DNS "transaction" are actually participants in the transaction, they have default consent to monitor at least their own bit of it. Yes?

You're the owner, or legal parent/guardian of the owner. You absolutely can and should install any monitoring, parental control, etc software that you see fit! That being said, I don't think we should design the defaults for general purpose software around control.

IMO once my kid is savvy enough to work around technical controls I put in place, she's mature enough to do whatever it is she was looking to do. Parental controls are a training wheel, not a straight jacket.

The necessity to break the parental controls on my home network lead in a round about way to a fairly successful career as a software developer. I look forward to the next generation, made brighter by needing to circumvent better designed systems.
