It’s not a new narrative! There has been a weird cohort of network people organized in opposition to the End to End Argument for as long as I’ve been practicing.

I think quite a bit of this results from organizational structure. I've seen many organizations (and not just universities) where the security people have limited control of end systems, but have responsibility for their security (or, indirectly, their security impact).

I don’t think it’s ill-intentioned, I just think some of these people are the product of a culture rooted in 20 years of weaponized measurement studies, and now the party is ending.
